Arsenal star Bukayo Saka acknowledged he is proud to be affiliated with Nigeria, but confirmed that he wants to be part of the project of the England national team.
For this month’s UEFA Nations League meetings against Wales, Belgium and Denmark, the teenage sensation was officially included in Gareth Southgate ‘s squad.
And this means that, considering their strong interest in making him play for the three-time African champions, he won’t be able to play for the Super Eagles.
However, Saka vowed to continue to help the team in the best way possible, adding that he would watch them play at his convenience.
“I feel like I’m really, really proud of my Nigerian heritage. “I always still watch Nigeria’s games where I can and I wish them all the best and support them all the way.
“But I’ve seen the process of how England are transforming and I think in the future they’re going to do great stuff. I feel like it was right for me to choose England.”
