PDP cautioned against any effort to rig the election of the Ondo State governorship, noting that it would be an invitation to violence to exploit the process.
The Chairman of the Publicity Sub-Committee of the Ondo State Governorship Election National Campaign Council of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, said this at a media briefing in Abuja on Sunday.
The PDP campaign called on the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), not to yield to pressure from the governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, and the All Progressive Congress to rig the process in favor of the incumbent,
“Ologbondiyan said, “Our campaign had previously alerted Nigerians to the APC’s desperate attempts to drag some Buhari presidential officials as previously praised by the self-confessed thug of Akeredolu, Isaac Kekemeke, who said that the governor was plotting to use violence and ‘federal force’ to boost the election against the wishes and expectations of the citizens of Ondo State.
“Therefore, our campaign urges President Buhari to follow the same Edo stance to ensure that Ondo’s elections are open, equal and credible without regard to political consideration, so that he can leave a legacy of electoral uprightness to which posterity and history can be kind to him.”
